Although Apple has pushed out countless devices and computers that have revolutionized technology in a huge way, there have also undoubtedly been a few to make a pretty big flop in the technology world. Whether the price point was off or the timing just wasn't right, these were some of the most failed products that Apple came out with.
Apple Pippin
Apple Pippin was Apple's attempt at the gaming industry which took nose dive straight into failure as soon as it launched. Not only was its online capabilities challenged (it could only achieve a fraction of the average dial-up connection speed), but it was also insanely expensive for its limited capabilities. Diving into the market alongside Nintendo and PlayStation didn't help matters either as they were much more affordable and better-equipped. It wasn't long before Apple ditched the 'Pippin' idea and their manufacture.
Apple Quick Take
Apple's QuickTake was quite a camera for the time period (the mid 90's), as it was capable of capturing incredible 640x480 resolution photographs. However, Apple suffered to major competition such as Kodak, Nikon, Canon, and other brands that were already around and more well versed in the photography category. The QuickTake only saw two models, and managed to stick around for just a few years before being discontinued.
The Apple "Hockey Puck Mouse"
If you had ever used an original iMac that came in different vibrant colors, you probably recall the small, strange mouse that came with each of the computers. The mouse was too small for the adult hand, and required push the buttons using the base of your index finger. Not only was it awkward to use, but its USB cord was obnoxiously short and had difficulty reaching relatively close USB ports.
Apple eWorld
Many people considered Apple's eWorld to be the competition and equivalent of the once-colossal America Online. It functioned very similarly to America Online, but it was a Mac-only environment that excluded PC users. The service did not last long due to Apple not being able to focus on marketing it effectively, and the service eventually tanked. Not to mention the fact that America Online had already cornered the market on this type of internet service.
Power Mac G4 Cube
Lastly, the PowerMac G4 Cube was one of the more recent flops that Apple undoubtedly experienced. One of the only positives about this model was its physical design rather than what it was capable of. Needless to say, it was overpriced, under-equipped compared to other Apple computers for the just the computer, and more. The G4 Cube only stuck around for a year before it was discontinued and made part of the past.
