Data security is a very important thing. Sometimes we have information, documents that we don’t want to share with others. OK, then how we can secure data from others while using USB device. Don’t get worried. We have a solution. You might know the name ‘Securestick’ that could the best possible solution in this case. Securestick is completely free portable application that helps you to carry encrypted data in your USB device. You can use those encrypted file in any computer by just plug in this device in USB port. This way you can carry your confidential data easily as well as ensure its security.

 

Systematic way of Securestick setup in your system:


So, if you want to use Securestick you have to download it first. To download Securestick click here. A page will be open, scroll down to find download option. Here you can see different kind of Secerestick for different kind of operating system. Choose Securestick according to your operating system. When download completed unzip it and copy to the USB drive. Double click to the unzip file, a command prompt window as well as a page will appear.


At the bottom of the page, you will see password field. Read the instruction carefully before set password and check the ‘Encrypt file names’ if it remains unchecked (as you see in the image above). Now click on ‘Create’ button. If every thing is OK then you will be logged into the safe zone of Securestick. At the same time, you will see that a virtual drive will create in your computer (as you see in the image below).
 
Now you can copy your files to the newly created encrypted virtual drive. It will take a little extra time to copy the files to the virtual drive because of encryption. You can also manually locate those file in USB drive. The address being [USB drive letter]:\encrdata\data. The encrdata is not normally visible to the others as because it has both ‘hidden’ and ‘system’ attributes. Once you have finished, you should logoff from the browser or close the Securestick window.





Caution:


When you log out from the safe zone of Securestick the local files still holds the cache of the unencrypted files in the system you are using. Therefore, make sure you clear the cache. To do this just click on ‘Clear WebDAV cache’ link (as you see in the red marked image above). This is to make sure you leave no trace on the computer you were working.
