Facebook is a social networking website and if you want to stay in touch with your friends and family online, then there is no better way of doing that than by joining Facebook. It is easy to use, extremely interactive and too much fun. So if you do not have an account, get one right now! 

All you need to do is to go to the home page of Facebook and sign up for a new account. Once you reach the home page you will find an option for signing up. Click on that option and proceed likewise. You will be directed to a page which will ask you for the necessary details like your name, surname, address, pin code, telephone number etc. Along with these, they will also ask you for a valid email id where they will be sending notifications regarding your account. After this, they will ask for a user name and a password. Once you have reconfirmed your password and submitted this online form you will receive a confirmation mail at the email id you provided. You just need to click on the link given in the mail and eureka, your account is open and ready for use!

Getting started with your account:

The next thing that you need to do after you have opened your account and the link in your email directs you to your profile page, is to put up a picture of yourself on your profile. You maybe reluctant to do so but Facebook is very safe. Once this is done you have to set out to give personal details by which anybody visiting your profile would get to know more about you before they become friends with you. This activity is more or less similar to other social networking sites and should not be very difficult. You may choose to put as many details you want to or may even opt to put nothing at all. However, if you put correct information about your workplace, the college you have been to, the school you have passed out from or even your area and locality, Facebook will give you automatic suggestions about people you might know from these places. So, this lightens the task of searching for people you know since Facebook is pretty good with suggestions and you will find most people you know from it. Now, you just have to visit the pages of these people and click on the “send friend request” button. A request would be sent to them and they would become your Facebook friends as and when they accept your request.

Write on the walls of your friends once they are made or send them personal messages if you want.
