Increase windows startup speed:

  • Disk Cleanup is a good way to free some disk spaces. It is a built in Windows XP program and an effective process to boost your startup speed. Therefore, to cleanup your disk go to start->Programs->Accessories->System Tools->Disk Cleanup. Choose the drive for which you want to perform disk cleanup operation. A window will open and select the files you want to delete and then click ok button.

    • Uninstall unnecessary program can also increase your system boot speed. So, to do that go to start->Control Panel->Add or Remove Programs. Select the program that you don’t need at all and remove it. Uninstall program also free some disk space.
    •  Defragmentation is also an effective way to increase startup speed. It will be better if you defragment your drive once every month. Over a period of time of your install and uninstall programs the position of files goes scattered in drive that’s why when you try to open a file it takes a long time. Windows has a tool that allows you to defragment the file in a specific drive so that they can occupy a particular space and increase access speed. So, to defragment of a drive, go to start->Programs->Accessories->System Tools->Disk Defragmenter. Click on Defragment to start the process. It will take a long time. Therefore, perform the defragmentation operation when you have no work in computer for long hours.
    •  Delete all unnecessary programs from your startup menu. To do that go to start->Programs and delete the program that you don’t want. Delete any program from startup menu does not mean that you delete the program from your hard drive. It is a good idea to restart your computer after deletion.
